Where to find it
Look for the “Pharmacy counter (Allergy & Sinus)” aisle sign. Sold from behind the pharmacy counter. Ask the pharmacist, show a government photo ID, and the purchase is logged. Federal law (the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act) limits pseudoephedrine to 3.6 g per day and 9 g per 30 days, and some states are stricter.
Good to know
- Claritin-D 12 Hour is a different dose — loratadine 5 mg + pseudoephedrine sulfate 120 mg — so it is not in this group. Store-brand "D-12" boxes match the 12-hour product.
- Claritin-D lists pseudoephedrine sulfate; Zyrtec-D, Allegra-D and Sudafed list pseudoephedrine HCl — two salt forms of the same decongestant.
- Plain Claritin (loratadine 10 mg) is on the open shelf; the "-D" versions are kept behind the pharmacy counter because of the pseudoephedrine.
