Good to know
- Every patch in this group is the same size, 10 × 14 cm, as printed on the boxes, so the price per patch is a fair comparison.
- Directions differ by brand: Aspercreme says to apply not more than 3 to 4 times daily; Salonpas says to apply for up to 8 hours; the CVS and Walgreens versions say no more than one patch in an 8-hour period and at most 3 a day; the Equate and Kroger versions say one patch for up to 12 hours. Follow the box you buy.
- The CVS, Walgreens, Equate and Kroger patches all say "Compare to" Salonpas on the box.
- Store brands call 4% lidocaine the maximum strength sold without a prescription; prescription lidocaine patches (such as Lidoderm) are 5%.
