Good to know
- SAFETY: infants' ibuprofen is 50 mg per 1.25 mL (40 mg per mL); children's ibuprofen is 100 mg per 5 mL (20 mg per mL). The same volume of infants' drops holds twice the medicine. Never swap the bottles or their dosing devices, and dose from the chart on the package you are using.
- Infants' Motrin and Infants' Advil are the same drug at the same concentration.
- Liquid acetaminophen is different: since 2011, infants' and children's acetaminophen have been one concentration (160 mg/5 mL). Ibuprofen is still sold in two concentrations, so always check the mg and mL on the front.
- Per milligram of ibuprofen, infants' drops cost several times more than children's liquid — compare the unit prices in the two groups.
