Where to find it
Look for the “Pharmacy counter (Allergy & Sinus)” aisle sign. Sold from behind the pharmacy counter. Ask the pharmacist, show a government photo ID, and the purchase is logged. Federal law (the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act) limits pseudoephedrine to 3.6 g per day and 9 g per 30 days, and some states are stricter.
Good to know
- Allegra-D 24 Hour is a different dose — fexofenadine HCl 180 mg + pseudoephedrine HCl 240 mg, once a day — so it is not in this group.
- Plain Allegra (fexofenadine) is on the open shelf; Allegra-D is kept behind the pharmacy counter because of the pseudoephedrine.
- The label notes that the tablet coating may be seen in the stool and that this is normal.
