Good to know
- Abreva Rapid Pain Relief is a different product: it contains lidocaine and glycerin, not docosanol.
- Store-brand docosanol 10% creams are FDA-approved generics of Abreva (approved through abbreviated new drug applications).
- Abreva also comes in a 2 g pump; it holds the same amount of the same cream as the 2 g tube.
- The label says to start at the first sign (tingle) of a cold sore — early treatment gives the best results.
